Welcome to Community Running!
We are a fun running club in the Boston-metro
area. We offer
coached workouts each week and year round.
Our workouts are perfect for everybody,
regardless of age, experience or ability. Our
core membership is made up of
"middle-to-back-of-the-pack" runners who run
for fun, fitness, and often for a good cause.
We currently have about 130 active members and
many more who train with us during the indoors
season.
We also help mentor totally new runners. Never run before? Can't run a mile? Not a problem. Everyone has to start somewhere, and many of our members started with the Couch-to-5K Program (C25K). Our New Runners Program is for new runners looking for support and camaraderie.
We are accessible on the MIT campus track
facilities in Cambridge, with ample free
parking. We utilize the MIT indoor track during
the winter. The MIT Cambridge campus is minutes
away from Boston, Somerville, Allston...
Community Running members also volunteer together.

Mondays: Speed Intervals
Track workout at the MIT outdoor track.
We divide into two groups: 5K/10K runners and half-marathon/marathon runners. (We move to the MIT indoor track during the winter.) Meet us at 7pm at the track; we set out on our warmup loop starting at 7:15pm. Bring your own water bottle, as there's no nearby water fountain. Most people come ready to run, as the only changing areas are in nearby buildings.
Wednesdays: Tempo/Hills/Group Runs
These workouts focus on tempo
runs, and core and strength
training. (We move to the MIT
indoor track during the winter.)
Meet us at 7pm at the MIT outdoor track; we set out on our warmup loop starting at 7:15pm. Bring your own water bottle, as there's no nearby water fountain. Most people come ready to run, as the only changing areas are in nearby buildings.
Saturdays: Long Run
Anywhere between 3 to 20 miles by
the Charles River. We meet at the
MIT Student Center, ground floor: meet at 8am, leave no later than 8:15am. In the summer, some people leave at 7am to beat the heat -- feel free to contact us to find out what the weekend's plan is.
(In the late winter and early
spring, these runs alternate
between routes along the Charles
River and along the Boston
Marathon course.) Members
coordinate to prepare water stops.
