We currently have three active RSS feeds: one to track changes to the web site, another to track the announcements posted on the Events section, and one that has incoming events in the Calendar -- races, water support for Saturday's long run among others.

- Web Site feeds: http://www.communityrunning.org/rss.xml

- Announcements feeds: Point your news reader to this link (you can right-click on it to copy the link).

- Calendar feeds: Point your news reader to this link (you can right-click on it to copy the link). The calendar feed display the calendar entries three days in advance.

Have a Blackberry, Treo, iPhone or another smartphone/PDA or cell phone with Internet access? You can get RSS directly to your phone. All you need is a RSS reader. iPhone's Safari has an integrated RSS reader and there are many applications for free for other devices. Two that work nicely are PicoNews and NewsCopier. Opera Mini, a free browser for mobiles, now has a RSS reader included too.

Note that sometimes you need to enter the APN settings in your device. There is some info about APN settings for different carriers here.

RSS (Real Simple Syndication) offers a way to keep track of changes in a web site without having to visit it. The most convenient way to use RSS feeds is to get a utility called news aggregator or news reader, which basically works as an email client -- like Outlook or Eudora: it checks the file containing the RSS feeds on a site for changes and lets you know if it finds any, usually providing a summary. One problem with RSS feeds is that they are as good as the person (or the software) in charge of maintaining the RSS file. The news readers do not check if a web site's files changed; it only looks for modifications in the RSS file.

You can get more information, including a list of news readers, in Wikipedia. There is another good introduction here.
